I frequently listen to podcasts in Firefox while working, and it becomes frustrating when I need to pause the show briefly to focus. I have to navigate through numerous tabs to locate it, click on it, and find the pause button, which is quite inconvenient. You understand the situation.
Would it be helpful if a hotkey existed to pause or resume the playback, even when Firefox is minimized?
There seems to be no built-in support for this in Firefox at the moment. Are there other programs or extensions that could provide this functionality?
Additionally, are there any browsers that already offer this feature natively?

When operating within numerous open tabs, it seems unlikely to halt whatever is active on Tab #18 by any specific key press or action.

Why not start a second Firefox window and assign that one to the subject podcast?
You can either keep the active window visible enough to pause or close it when you need focus.
Minimizing the active instance and clicking it in the Task Bar would also work.
Using two monitors could help manage the task more easily.
Assigning Monitor #2 specifically for podcast use might be beneficial.

I think you can process URLs with VLC and utilize its control features.
There are specific shortcuts available that can be tailored for various tasks.

On my desktop, a YT video in a browser can be controlled using the "Play/Pause" key on the keyboard. The focus doesn't matter which application or tab is active.

there are numerous keyboards now, including those with volume and media controls.
you should compare different models to find one that suits your size, budget, and requirements.

But the matter is, I’m confused about what that shortcut is targeting, since, according to what I know, there isn’t a hotkey that can handle that, so I’m unsure if this specific key is unique to Albalcho’s keyboard. It seems unlikely that any keyboard with a play/pause button would work in this case.

applications such as WinAMP or Media Player streaming audio while I play games,
VLC handling video in a window during browsing or File Explorer,
video playing via YouTube or other web hosts,
etc...
all of these remain under the control of my volume wheel and playback controls.
