I'm unsure where to share this, but I currently have a Windows 7 32-bit system and I’m really interested in moving to 64-bit without spending any money. If it’s possible, I’d love to upgrade right away. Also, let me know if there are other options for upgrading to Windows 7 64-bit—thanks for understanding, I’m a big PC newbie.

Follow Arokhantos' instructions, obtain your key, and locate a Windows 7 64-bit installation. Use the key during setup, but be aware it might not work if your computer can't handle it.

Get the 64-bit ISO file, set up the installation, and use your Windows 7 activation code to complete the setup.

Attempted this between 7 and 8.1 pro. Updating keeps you tied to the 32/64 version. For a 64-bit upgrade you need to purchase the CD or borrow one from a friend and perform a clean install. Spent two weeks persuading MS tech support and sales staff. If you prefer staying on 7 but increasing from 32 to 64 bit, you can locate a 64-bit Windows 7 CD online (possibly burnable ISO) and still need a clean install for the upgrade. Cloning your hard drive onto a new machine won’t work—previous attempts failed.

It will maintain a 32-bit environment since your system might not support 64-bit. Was the operating system pre-installed as 32-bit or did you purchase it separately? Check the website for download options. Downloading a 64-bit version of Windows 7 and reinstalling is recommended, make sure to back up your data beforehand so you can restore files after formatting.

To upgrade to Windows 10 64 bit, you need to obtain the 64-bit ISO file and perform a tailored installation on your existing Windows 7 32-bit setup.
