I've been using Inpaint. It's straightforward, requires minimal effort, and has a gentle learning curve. It does an excellent job, though I'm bothered by the updates. When I purchased it about four years ago for a $10 lifetime license, the first year upgrade was free. The next two years the upgrade removed the lifetime license and they began charging annually with rising costs! Although the price at $29 isn't huge, it bothers me about how much the lifetime changed. Well, grumble, grumble.

Is there another program that can perform similar image editing tasks? I just need to remove certain elements from pictures.

It would be useful to know which apps or tools you've used before. Let me know what you enjoyed and what didn't work for you. Are you open to investing a bit of money?

I have been using Inpaint. It was simple, easy, and had almost no learning curve. It was $10 for a lifetime, which was perfect for me. I could pay the new price at $29. However, it bothered me because they claimed it was a lifetime license. They offered a free upgrade, but when I did that, the terms changed, and I ended up paying more each year. It’s not about the money—it’s that they altered the rules without warning! And keep going up! Prices range from free to $30 for a lifetime license.

I’m not a professional. I take a few pictures and want to remove some elements. Maybe swapping out a background would be nice.
