I rely on TeamViewer to support my family and manage my own computers, especially my 80-year-old mother who frequently requires assistance with her laptop and Android phone. TeamViewer has proven to be quite effective. What I find challenging is that even though the service is free for non-commercial use, it sometimes flags my activity as commercial, which limits my access. This means I must fill out a declaration stating that I’m not using their service for business purposes before they can restrict my account.

This situation has become frustrating. Recently, I finally transferred her old Galaxy Note 3 to a Galaxy A8, which is still functional but no longer the latest budget Samsung models. During my visit this week, I reassured her that I could always access her phone remotely to resolve issues or guide her through tasks. I also check in with her laptop every ten days to assist with online grocery orders.

My father is currently unwell due to a cancer diagnosis, so she’s under a lot of stress managing appointments and calls from medical offices. Unfortunately, she’s encountered problems with her phone, but TeamViewer has blocked my access again, making it even harder for me to help.

I submitted the required declaration over a week ago, but I haven’t received any response yet. There’s no clear way to follow up. Although the service is free, I’d prefer to pay if it means avoiding constant interruptions. Unfortunately, they don’t offer a paid option for home users, and the commercial version is quite costly. This puts me in a difficult position—either pay for a license I’m not using commercially or look for an alternative solution.

The alternative would require installing other software on her devices remotely, which is inconvenient since I can’t afford time off work and don’t have much money.

I apologize if this sounds like a personal story, but I want to emphasize how crucial this support is and clarify my requirements. If anyone knows of affordable software that can handle remote control for Android phones, I’d greatly appreciate your advice.

Is it now possible to remotely manage other Android devices, such as Xiaomi models, to take full control instead of just viewing them? The Galaxy A8 was purchased specifically through TeamViewer because other budget options didn’t offer the same value, but they didn’t provide true remote control.

Thank you very much for your help.

I have been utilizing Remote Utilities for more than two years to connect to my parents' home computer. Teamviewer also marked me as a commercial user.
The tool works well; you need to set up the "host" on the device you control (your mother's PC) and the "viewer" on the one you use (your own).
After the trial ends, you can obtain a personal user key and register it—use it freely thereafter.
I haven't tried the Android version, though it appears on their site.

Sponkwig,
AnyDesk is another option similar to TeamViewer, available for free personal use. I tried it and it functions properly. However, I'm not sure about its performance on Android. Best of luck!

Plus one for Anydesk too. Team Viewer mentioned I was using it for commercial purposes (lol)... I connect my home office PC with my laptop while winding down in bed. Not sure about the Android/iOS features. Chrome's Remote worked fine, but after a while it would ask the host if they still wanted to keep the connection, which was a big issue because if I'm remoting into the host PC I'm not actually there lol

Please note that a direct connection is possible instead of using the office PC's IP address. No TeamViewer servers are part of LAN connections, so this should not raise a "commercial use" alert. To allow LAN connections on the office PC, go to options and choose "Accept" for "Incoming LAN Connections".
