The change in your PSU three days ago and the unusual odor are worth checking. It's not necessarily normal for a new PSU, but it could indicate an issue. The Zalman ZM700-LXII model should be evaluated for faults.

It's typical for new PSUs. The odor results from burnt flux residue on the PCB that hasn't been cleaned. I don't need to be concerned as this is normal for new devices. The smell should fade soon.

It's flux. The odor vanishes within a few weeks.
You should focus on the quality of the PSU. It's Tier E for a reason.

I encountered problems with my old PSU, but this new one appeared to be a good value at first.
CPU: Ryzen 5 5500
GPU: RX 6600

The brand and model of this PSU are unknown. It doesn't fit any system and has poor quality, unstable voltage regulation, and inadequate protection.

I would like a trustworthy PSU maker to remove the flux residue from the board after using the flow soldering machine. They could add extra parts by hand soldering and overlook the flux removal, but I usually clean the boards with a brush dipped in solvent once work is done. Some of the liquid fluxes include dilute phosphoric acid, so it's important to leave no traces to prevent corrosion. Ersin multicore flux is less harmful, yet I still take it out. I'm curious whether the new machine odor comes from the heating of the conformal coating or from the white silicone sealant used to secure large unsupported parts like electrolytics, transistors, diodes, MOVs, and wires.
