You're using a laptop with 16GB RAM but only 14.9GB is available for use. You're considering upgrading to 24 or 32GB, but it's unclear if you need more for gaming, schoolwork, or browsing.

For this purpose, there would be no benefit. Keep an eye on your memory consumption—I’m almost sure you won’t need an upgrade.

I'll proceed, I believe the maximum I've observed was 10GB previously.

16 is more than adequate for gaming, you won't notice much change in frame rates when you move to 32. Even when comparing 8 to 16, the gap is small—except for newer triple-A titles that need over 8GB. If you play games like AC Odyssey with 8GB RAM, you'll feel the impact. For other uses, such as schoolwork and web browsing, memory usage is much lower, so it's fine.

Think about it when your usage hits more than 16GB. You always want enough RAM. I have to be very cautious with 32GB. On the 2950x I had 64GB but only exceeded 32GB a few times a month, possibly due to a memory leak from inconsistent settings.
