Is there a pattern of unstable performance on CPU and GPU during Rainbow Six Siege?
Because the game crashed unexpectedly, I've encountered this unusual pattern of sudden drops. The performance isn't lagging in the typical random manner; instead, it's behaving in a steady and bothersome way. The visuals on the screens show FPS reductions every five seconds, dropping from around 80 to between 35 and 40, continuing until the game ends. This issue appears only during the actual gameplay when the 3D elements are active, not in the menus or elsewhere.
I've tried standard troubleshooting steps—reinstalling the game, updating drivers, changing settings, disconnecting the mouse or keyboard, and ensuring all requirements are met—but nothing resolved the problem.
I'm not the most skilled at fixing such issues, but I'm doing my best and welcome any assistance.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
We're going to need a little more information. Can you please parse the specs to your system like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Can you check and see if HWMontior's temps have any co-relation with your FPS drops? Take note of your motherboard BIOS version and the version of your OS(we're currently on version 20H2). You might want to see if reinstalling your GPU drivers alleviates the issue.
In order to reinstall your GPU drivers, you will need the latest drivers from Nvidia's support site, then use DDU to uninstall all traces of GPU drivers. Once rebooted, install the driver in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.
By any chance, did the issue crop up after their latest update? Does the issue crop up with other game titles?
CPU: Intel Core i7-7700HQ 2.80GHz
Motherboard: LENOVO LNVNB161216
RAM: 8GB
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 ti
OS: Windows 10
The problem appears only after a game crash, and after that a patch was released for the game but it didn’t resolve the issue.
GPU temperatures seem normal, but the CPU is behaving oddly—temperatures fluctuating between 77 and 102°C, voltages ranging from 0.70 to 1.1–1.3, and clock speeds jumping sharply between 789 and 3398 MHz.
I have updated the GPU drivers, but nothing has improved.
I own a Lenovo Legion Y520. After the R6 failed once, I've noticed these unusual FPS drops. The game isn't lagging in the typical random manner; instead, it's consistently and irritatingly inconsistent. The FPS reductions are visible in the screenshots, occurring every five seconds where the normal 80 drops to between 35 and 40, continuing until the game ends. This only happens during the actual gameplay with 3D effects, not in the menus or elsewhere.
I've performed a standard game reinstall, driver updates/reinstalls, changed settings, unplugged the mouse and keyboard, and checked the system requirements. Still, nothing has changed.

What BIOS version do you have? If the problem is limited to that one game, it might be best to wait for further updates or patches. I requested the operating system version, and now it's quite typical to be using Windows 10. We're presently running version 20H2 for Windows 10.
It's just about that one game, they released a fix patch but nothing actually changed. And yes, I'm still on 20H2 for Windows 10.
