When I launch a new File Explorer window, it usually begins at "Home".
I prefer the traditional file structure and avoid using any custom folder substitutes Windows suggests (like Image/Videos/Download).
So when I open a new window and enter a full path such as D:\something1\something2\, the explorer shows the directory as D:\something1\something2, but its position in the bar is Home\something2.
I used to rely on the location bar as a kind of trail to navigate easily between folders, clicking on something1 to jump to D:\something1.
Now, since something1 is hidden by Home and I don’t want to go there, this changes how usable the file explorer becomes, forcing more clicks to reach the actual paths.
It also impacts the Up navigation arrow.
Is there a way to prevent File Explorer from doing this?
Later: I’ve noticed it sometimes starts at Home and other times not. I’m still trying to understand why.
