I've used alcohol 120 to convert all my old CD/DVD games into ISO files, along with a notepad containing the CD keys for each. In the past, on Windows 7, I relied on daemon tools to access the ISO images, but now Windows 10 and 11 can mount them directly without any additional software.

On those games that trigger an I/O error when extracting the CD/ DVD game disks, I simply darken every file on the disk and right-click to send it to a zip file.
The advantage is that the OS rejects this action on a locked CD/DVD, offering an alternative to move it to the desktop.
You end up with the contents in a folder on the desktop as a non-ISO file. You can keep it that way or convert it into an ISO if needed.

I believe it’s clear that if this discussion veers into unlawful territory, like circumventing copy safeguards, the thread will vanish completely and those responsible will face serious consequences. That’s the sole caution I can offer.
