The other programs I tried also. It doesn't answer my question...
Please look at my initial question...
While I haven't tried this, what do you think about the Free Duplicate Finder?

In particular:
Identify duplicate file names
- Locate files with identical or similar names
- Adjust to 100% for repeating names or lower for similar ones.
Yes, I noticed that.
It identifies duplicates.
Therefore, anything not listed isn't a duplicate.
Yes, it applies within a particular folder, without comparing two separate ones.
I've relied on Beyond Compare frequently for staged migrations and delta file transfers.
Their trial period is typically sufficient to complete the tasks required before the expiration date. It's uncertain if it will perfectly meet your needs, but you might find it worth trying.
Could you clarify the intended purpose of this requirement? It appears none of the current options fit well. What specific need should we focus on?
I store my mp3/wma files on multiple devices like usb sticks and hdd.
I recently crashed my car and lost the audio usb stick containing all my songs.
I'm uncertain if some tracks are saved in a backup directory that isn't on my new audio stick folder.
I just need a simple, free tool that checks file names only, without looking at other details like dates or content.
In my initial post I mentioned 'Beyond Compare' but it didn't appear to work...
I would take action by setting up a folder on a storage device. From every of your gadgets, I'd move the files into this new directory. The Windows File Explorer would notice duplicates most of the time and let me know if I should skip them or change their names.
