Hey everyone,

Here are the details of my current setup:

- MSI B450M-A PRO MAX II MOBO (New)
- AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (New)
- ID-COOLING FrostFlow x240 Lite 240 MM AIO CPU Cooler (New)
- Gigabyte GTX 1050 TI OC Edition GPU (Old)
- 2 x 8GB ADATA DDR4 2600 MHZ RAM (Old)
- 128GB KINGSTON SSD (Old)
- 1TB Seagate 7200 RPM HDD (Old)
- Corsair VS650 650W PSU (5 years old)
- Thermaltake Versa N25,2 fans on front, AIO cooler at the top, 1 exhaust fan at the back

Previously, I had an Intel build with an i7 8th gen processor and a H310M MOBO. After a PC cleanup, the stock CPU fan got stuck during a Warzone session, causing the system to shut down abruptly. The shutdown occurred repeatedly—sometimes it would start again, other times it wouldn’t boot at all and kept restarting for weeks. Eventually, I brought it to a repair shop, who suggested the MOBO might be the issue due to recent problems.

I decided to upgrade the motherboard and bought an AMD processor (on a budget). After setting up the new build, I started the PC but noticed no display initially. Removing one RAM helped get the screen back, but after restarting or shutting down, the keyboard and mouse wouldn’t light up. I removed the graphics card, which allowed the system to recognize the keyboard and mouse, but the display still didn’t appear since the processor lacked an integrated GPU. I reset the CMOS, and it booted up successfully. Windows installation followed, but after some time the system would shut down and restart again, just like before.

I tested the PSU with a probe tester and confirmed all voltages were normal.

Help is needed because I’m struggling to get this PC running properly. Thanks!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Discussing Corsair 650W PSU (old) – how old is it? The brand is Corsair, but the advertised power is 650W. What model is your unit?
Regarding the FrostFlow x240 Lite 240 MM AIO CPU Cooler (new), what orientation does the AIO have in your build? Did you forget to mention your case's make and model along with the fan placement?

Hi, thank you for reaching out.
The setup involves a Corsair VS650 650W power supply that has been running since late 2018—about five years now.
My system uses a Thermaltake Versa N25 with two front fans, an AIO radiator at the top, and one exhaust fan on the back.

I found only one reference to the Corsair VS (2012) in this list and it should be updated immediately.

It seems you're considering upgrading your power supply unit and are evaluating the Segotep GP650G Pro. You're wondering if it would work well given your current setup.

I spent half an hour in my preferred computer shop in Saddar Bazaar Islamabad during May this year, talking with the owner. This experience shows that high-quality components can be hard to find. I wasn’t familiar with Segotep, but it appears on the Cultists Network under Mid Range (GP-P model 700W or less) and Low End (GM / SG-G). Despite its low price, they seem to be decent options.

If you’re close to Technocity or a similar computer market, it could be worthwhile visiting the shop to test a PSU before purchasing. This way, you’ll know whether the issue is with the PSU itself rather than another component like the VS650.
How reliable is the AC mains supply in your area? I’ve measured voltages as low as 55V AC (nominal 110V AC micro hydel supply in Chitral) and as high as 300V AC (nominal 240V AC hotel generator in Hunza).
Most ATX PSUs are designed for 100 to 240V AC, but I’d be concerned if the voltage drops below 80V or rises above 260V. If your supply is unstable, consider investing in an AVR or a quality UPS.
