CPU : ryzen 7500f
Motherboard : MSI PRO B650M-B
GPU : Nvidia GTX 1650 Super (palit)
RAM : Kingston Fury DDR5 4800 MHZ 16 gb (x2, purchased separately)
Storage : Kingston SA400 480 gb, Kingston NV1 2 tb
Issue described: system reports low virtual memory, but currently at 32gb. Applications still crash occasionally, especially in Photoshop or Vegas.

What I've attempted:
- Set virtual memory to 0 (system suggested 16gb, 32gb, 64gb) – no success
- Swapped the location of the virtual memory file (SSD to another SSD) – no effect
- Ran memtest64 and memtest86 – both showed no problems
- Updated BIOS
- Changed XMP profile from 5200 Mhz to 4800 (maximum non-OC speed)

Did you have pagefile disabled?
If you didn't have it disabled, then eventviewer is probably reporting, it has increased pagefile by small increments.
Set pagefile to 1GB initial, 16GB max.
Do not leave it on system managed. It will grow to ridiculous sizes. May even eat up all free space on your SSD.
Can you show a screenshot from Task Manager - Performance/Memory section, when crash happens?
and screenshot from your virtual memory settings.

When I posted this, the system had 32gb pagefile, but the event viewer kept showing low memory status. Changing it to system managed didn’t solve the problem, so I was using custom sizes instead. I’ll test setting it to 1gb now. I’ll try again, though it could cause issues.

Is there any malware detected on the system?
What is the current RAM consumption?
You can check the Resource Monitor for RAM details—it might show if the purchased RAM isn't functioning properly.

I discovered this in a post from five years ago and it could still be relevant for Windows 11.

Yes, virtual memory is referred to as commit by MS, and the pagefile acts as the backing store. It might be a memory leak, so consider checking with @Misgar's advice.

It seems you're referring to some technical details about a system issue. The text mentions screenshots and a problem with the system not restarting after adjusting the pagefile size, along with an event viewer log. Let me know if you need help interpreting or addressing this further.

I have an AV with a recent full scan, but no issues were found. The screenshot indicates the device was closing at 100% usage during the crash. I'm unsure what to look for in resmon since it shows 32gig and 0 hard faults—what are you considering?

No, I wasn't aware those programs use separate swap files and don't understand how to configure them. If you're referring to memory allocation in preferences, Photoshop uses 17gb and Vegas has 8gb of dynamic RAM preview.

I render in 4k, but most of my footage is 1080p while my project remains at 720p until rendering time (then I switch to 4k). This helps prevent Vegas from lagging during editing.

It doesn't appear a single program instance is the issue. At 17G + 3G and 55G of virtual memory usage, consider reviewing the commit column in Task Manager and GPU memory stats.
