Compare the Ryzen 5 3600X with the standard 3600 on your MSI B450M-A Pro Max motherboard. Decide based on performance needs and budget.

Both options are acceptable; you can purchase the X variant for an additional 50 dollars, which enables faster boost clocks. Each should fit well in the solid MOBO.

The cost can be significantly higher than expected for similar experiences. The 3600X comes with a bigger cooler, which might justify the price if it's only slightly more expensive, but usually the more affordable version offers better value.

They are identical CPUs, the only variation being the stock cooler included. If you plan to purchase an aftermarket cooler, opt for the standard model instead.

The x model includes an improved cooler and a marginally higher overclock than the standard version. The regular model costs £80 less while delivering the same performance as the x model, offering a more affordable and superior value.
