Hello,

I presently use a GeForce GTX 1070 paired with an Intel Core i7-4700k, and it performs adequately. I’m contemplating a complete system overhaul, but I'm also exploring the option of purchasing an RTX 2060 when it is released. Will my current processor limit the performance of the 4770? And what degree of improvement can I expect in my gaming experience if I simultaneously upgrade my central processing unit?

Thank you.

This isn’t a particularly worthwhile upgrade, and definitely doesn't justify the cost. The RTX 2060 generally doesn’t offer a significant advantage over the GTX 1070, often having less video memory. If I were in your position, I would recommend saving up for a more substantial improvement, perhaps an RTX 2080 or RTX 2070.

Regarding your inquiry about whether a Radeon RX 4770 will limit a GTX 1070's performance in the games you enjoy – it probably won’t cause a significant bottleneck because its improvements aren't substantial.

Concerning CPU upgrades, the extent of your performance gains will depend on the titles you play. The RX 4770 remains a respectable processor; it might restrict a graphics card like the GTX 1070 or higher-end models in newer, computationally demanding games such as *Assassin’s Creed Odyssey*.

This was a disappointing purchase, definitely not worth the investment. The GeForce RTX 2060 doesn’t significantly improve upon the performance of the GTX 1070 in most games and has less video memory. If I were in your situation, I'd recommend saving up for a more substantial upgrade like an RTX 2080 or RTX 2070.

Regarding your query about whether a Radeon 4770 will limit a GTX 1070’s capabilities – if it doesn’t create a bottleneck in the games you play, it probably won't restrict an RTX 2060 because its advantage isn’t that great.

Concerning CPU upgrades, your gains will depend on the titles you play. The Radeon 4770 remains a respectable processor; it might only slow down a graphics card like a GTX 1070 or higher in newer, computationally intensive games, such as *Assassin's Creed Odyssey*.

Thank you for your response! I’m considering buying an RTX 2080. Do you anticipate needing to upgrade my central processing unit as well? What are your thoughts on selecting a motherboard, RAM, and other components – I'm contemplating purchasing everything new instead of just the CPU and graphics card.
