If there is an issue that appears only after installing the M.2 drive but not before, then either the drive itself has a problem or you are missing some essential drivers. Before proceeding, please download and install all the necessary drivers from the official support page for your motherboard. These drivers should always come directly from the manufacturer, not from Windows updates, third-party updaters, or external websites. In certain situations, using chipset, AIO, or graphics drivers from AMD’s site is acceptable because the chipset is originally from them, and sometimes newer versions are available there than on the board manufacturer’s site.

I have successfully updated the bios to F17c, now I am performing a hard reset and yes this is B550 Aorus Elite rev 1.0. While testing SSDs, both were connected to the pc and remained plugged in. They had a clean Windows installation with default BIOS settings. After launching a game via SATA, the pc did not crash; however, it crashed when booting to NVMe and running the game. This occurred with other applications as well. The SATA failure happened only when attempting to run the game through NVMe. If the NVMe is faulty, this could explain the intermittent crashes we observed despite removing many components. There are also screenshots of the SMART Controller that suggest a possible glitch, pointing toward this direction. It seems the drive was failing but now appears to have partially failed, as crashes occur in a matter of seconds after launching a game. Should I proceed with testing it in the same manner as after the bios update and XMP setup, if it crashes similarly, could this confirm that the NVMe is the issue?

Yes, generally it seems like if it does this with the NVME drive installed and not with another drive, then it's probably either the drive or the board. However, it's not 100% certain. It might also be a bent pin on the CPU that influences the lanes used by the M.2 drive. But I think I'd probably send it back for repair and then proceed from there.

I didn't verify with another M.2 drive, but I installed the one on the second slot on the motherboard and got the same outcome... The system functioned properly before, and the CPU wasn't ever removed from the slot by me, so it's very unlikely the pins are bent. Once I turn on XMP, I'll run the test again; if it fails in the same way, I'll replace the drive and proceed as you suggested. Only time will tell. Thanks again for your assistance, and I'll update you after testing again.

I tried again after updating the bios and enabling XMP, got the same result. Formatting the M.2 still caused it to crash. So I’ll replace it, thanks for all the help.

I advise maintaining the RAM and default JDEC settings, as mentioned in the quote below, to address the concerns outlined. While I might have been less precise about specific actions, the goal was to resolve the matter effectively. He repeatedly turned on and off DOCP/XMP during periods of intermittent problems. I thought it wise to keep speeds at the default level for diagnostic purposes. Also, I write mghz due to a habit, but clarity is important!
