Is the new installation failing due to a crash during the operating system setup?
I possess a fresh build where everything functions properly during BIOS setup, but changes are saved and the system restarts with a freshly created Windows 10 install USB from UEFI. After loading, I see the Windows splash, then a brief dot race track, followed by all LEDs going dark and losing the video signal. The code displays Code AA detecting HDD.
Mainboard: ASUS Crosshair VIII formula X570 wifi
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, AMD Ryzen 7 5700X (two different CPUs tested, always using 5700X)
Memory: GSKILL Trident NEO F4-3600C16Q 64GB Kit, GSKILL Trident NEO F4-3600C18Q 128GB Kit (32 GB installed on F4-3600C16Q)
Storage: Sabrent Rocket PCIe M.2 2280 (512 GB in Slot 1, 2TB in Slot 2)
SSD Storage: WD 500GB x2
Video Card: ASUS Strix RTX3090, ASUS Strix RTX2080 TI (multiple video cards tried; RTX 3090 installed now)
I’ve been dealing with this problem for some time and am now feeling quite frustrated. I’m ready to ask for assistance. Any support would be greatly appreciated.
Disconnect all disks except the one you wish to use for installing the operating system...test.
Unplug all disks except the one you wish to install the OS on....test. Already tried that and received identical outcomes with three different devices of all three NVME, SSD, and HDD types.
I struggle to grasp this memory setup. Could you clarify? During testing, I used two DIMMs—first the 32 GB sticks twice, then swapped in the 16 GB sticks twice. I also tried using a single DIMM in A1 as per the manual. No difference in results.
Please note that mixing multiple RAM kits together is not recommended. I attempted two distinct RAM sets as instructed.
Thank you for your feedback. I’m really confused about this issue. My biggest concern is that it might be a mainboard problem, especially since I’ve had it long enough to be out of warranty. This has never worked before; I’ve just become frustrated and given up on it several times.
Reset, refreshed, reloaded, updated repeatedly. Consistent outcome over the past six months. Identical results each time. BIOS operation remains normal during the first boot to OS installation crash. Attempted Windows 10 with a new USB x2 drive on two different USBs; also tried Ubuntu with newly downloaded and created setup. The issue continues.
Created the USB using the Windows EXE download. Unit starts booting to the test and is currently 9% through the first test. Boot process seems normal... I'm not sure what this means. Could be a bad Windows USB or an UEFI issue? I had to adjust the BIOS setting to boot non-UEFI. One step closer. Thanks for your feedback.
The memtest results were as expected. I plan to run it again next time after configuring the BIOS. Typically, I perform it overnight and test it when I power on, usually around 6 hours later. If there are any problems with the RAM, please let us know the specific motherboard model and the affected RAM type so we can offer guidance or compatible options.
The MEMtest passed without any problems, and I tested it overnight—it worked perfectly.

RAM GSKILL Trident NEO F4-3600C16Q 64GB Kit (only two DIMMs installed, so 16x2)
It functions fully except when loading Windows.
