I’m considering moving to the B550 and noticed the specs mention Ryzen 3th gen compatibility. I want to know if I need to re-flash it or if it’s similar to how my B450 was set up from the start.

According to MSI's site, it supports the 5000 series, though compatibility isn't guaranteed. You can still update the BIOS using the "flash BIOS" option even without a CPU installed.

A recently manufactured motherboard (within the past year) is likely ready to use immediately. If not, you can flash BIOS even without a CPU installed.

When acquiring a new stock, you probably won't need to flash it. But for very old stocks... If the package includes a flash bios button on the back, you can use it without a compatible CPU. Whether this process goes smoothly depends on many factors.
