Some keyboards have a slight Bluetooth delay and battery life is something to consider. The Apple keyboard appears to work well without problems when used wirelessly. Generally, wired connections are the best, while wireless offers convenience or looks some people prefer. If you decide to buy one or already own it, check if there’s any noticeable difference.

I observed that each time I unplug my sister's iMac while it's powered down, the keyboard stops working, as reported by her.

Uncertain about your point, since when the computer is off the keyboard should be inactive too. How exactly does it disconnect? Your initial message isn't really connected to this other topic.

wouldn't it be expected to link seamlessly once connected and powered on?

Do you mean re-establishing the connection? Yes, the system should retain previous connections, but occasionally you must manually connect to Bluetooth devices again. You need more precise information about the process so we can address the problem effectively without interrupting it in small steps. Begin by clarifying the specific issue with the equipment involved.
