Is the Lenovo Chromebook 5i a good value for its cost? Which model would suit your needs best?
I’m looking for a suitable Windows laptop that fits my requirements and budget. Having a dedicated PC where I can play games and handle most tasks at home makes me consider a Chromebook option. I’m hoping you can assist in choosing the best Chromebook for me, thanks!
I’ve ordered a Lenovo Chromebook 5i with 8GB RAM and an i3-1115G4 processor for 569.99 CAD directly from their site. There’s also a more affordable model with 4GB RAM and a Pentium Gold 7505 chip for 389.99 CAD, but I’m unsure if that amount of memory will suffice for my needs.
I’m curious whether there are better Chromebook or Windows laptops available at similar prices in Canada, or if this one offers good value. The model I ordered is from 2021 and its support ends in 2029, so it should still be usable.
What I’m seeking in a Chromebook includes:
- 1080p display resolution
- Wi-Fi 6 connectivity for cloud services
- Lightweight design for easy portability
- Ability to multitask with many open tabs and apps running
- Instant startup for quick sessions
- Support for streaming high-quality videos and browsing the web
- Sufficient storage, preferably external or cloud-based
- Fast boot time if I’m using Chrome OS
I prefer 8GB RAM since I often run multiple applications simultaneously. If you think 4GB is adequate, let me know.
I also want to know if I should go with a Chromebook or stick with Windows. From what I understand, higher prices usually mean lower value—so I’m trying to get the best return on my investment.
