I just got a new laptop and I had it plugged in while playing WoW. The charger was sitting near me and it got so hot that I got burned by it and it is literally melting anything I set it on. There is no safe place to put something this HOT.
I checked online and I read that this charger is 240W and its going to get hot when plugged in, but my god, there's no way this is real. I have had laptops before and I know the chargers get hot, but this is to the point where it feels dangerous.
I really like the laptop so I don't want to send it back to Amazon, but if this is normal for this laptop, there's no way I can keep it. It started melting the wood (or whatever/fake wood) on my desk and I have a burn on my foot.
I'm going to message ASUS tomorrow, but they are closed now.
(BTW The laptop itself is cool. It's not hot at all. I bought the KLIM Everest Cooler and its keeping the laptop cold to the touch.)
This is the laptop I bought:

I looked up online and found that the charger is 240W and it tends to get warm when connected. Based on this information, I checked the product page: it lists 280W. Could you share a picture of the labeled details on the adapter you’re using? This might help with your concerns.

This could be a useful read:

For your laptop, have you tried adjusting the CPU and GPU voltages? If not, check out this guide:
