Is the FPS in Elden Ring reduced by half randomly?
Hello. I hope this is the appropriate location to share this information.
I’m running an RTX 3090 with an i9 processor at 11900K and 32 GB of RAM. Elden Ring often performs well at around 60 FPS, but most of the time it struggles, dropping below the low 30s.
Switching the resolution to 1080p and adjusting settings didn’t improve the situation. There have been instances where my FPS begins at 60, then gradually drops into single digits, followed by a black screen that disappears with the FPS capped at 30 again.
I’m unsure what’s causing this, but I believe my system can handle the game at 60 FPS in 4K, as I’ve experienced long sessions with smooth performance. The issue seems to occur after turning the computer off and on again.
My CPU and GPU temperatures are usually in the high 50s to low 60s.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Assuming you're not having any power related issues when your GPU's being taxed, try and use DDU to remove all GPU drivers(Intel, AMD and Nvidia) in Safe Mode, then manually install the latest GPU driver sourced from Nvidia's support site in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.
