It seems the heatsink wasn’t installed properly. The Intel design includes a black center pin that you push through the clear plastic pins to spread its teeth and secure it. One of these pins appears activated, preventing it from fitting into the MMO hole. You should turn the top of that pin upward to release it.

The adhesive should work fine. Make sure you fully pressed the heatsink in place. You should be able to grip the board by the heatsink and feel it as one solid unit. If everything is correct, you’ll notice significantly better temperature readings.

View the audio video. Clicking the pins on the motherboard produces a sound at 2:07 for the first pair and 2:17 for the second pair.

You can usually observe the bottom of the motherboard. These coolers are typically placed before fitting the motherboard into the case, though newer designs often have the CPU socket visible under the CPU, making it easier to check. If installed correctly, you’ll notice how it’s secured into the bottom slots and whether everything is aligned properly.
