I am seeking a budget-friendly option for an MFP color laser printer that includes copy, scan, and duplex capabilities along with Wi-Fi connectivity. There are numerous models available today, but the recurring expenses seem excessive. The toner prices are particularly high and often not justified. I’m open to purchasing a used unit and would appreciate suggestions.
I own a Dell C1765NFW printer that offers all these features except duplex printing. This model dates back around 2014 or earlier. Aftermarket toners for this printer are very affordable, often costing just $50 for a pack of four compatible cartridges that perform similarly to OEM products. The average yield from these aftermarket supplies is about 4000 pages, which meets my expectations. Unfortunately, the printer now has scanner issues, haze problems, and isn’t compatible with 120W power. I’ve relocated to the US.
Finding printers from around 9 or 10 years ago on Google is challenging, as search results tend to focus on the latest models. If possible, it would help if there was a way to filter searches specifically for older devices that meet my needs. I’m open to considering other brands besides Dell. The persistent cost of toner in newer printers is discouraging, since they require a smart chip in each cartridge replacement, making aftermarket options harder to obtain.

If you're aiming for a multi-function laser, expect higher costs generally. Many manufacturers, particularly HP, are increasingly restricting the use of third-party or refurbished toners, which can limit printer functionality. I don’t have specific recommendations beyond suggesting you explore DELL, Epson, and HP options, carefully evaluating both the printer and toner prices.
