Hi, a while back I assembled a PC just for light gaming. My setup is quite basic:
Amd FX-4300
16GB DDR3 RAM
GTX 460 graphics card
For the first power supply I used something like an AVF 500W, but after a few days it failed when I played GTA V, and then I switched to a Sapildo 500W which also failed on GTA V. I’m using the Imperion Extreme 600W, but it explodes after some games at DMC 5. These three power supplies are the cheapest option. I’m thinking about buying a Cooler Master Elite P600 v3, but I’m worried they might fail too because they seem to be a waste of money. Hope you can offer some advice.

It seems your other components remain intact.
A low-cost PSU typically uses inferior parts. It might lack essential safety and overload safeguards.
The risk lies in failure under stress, which could damage anything connected to it.
It will only provide the rated voltage at room temperature, not at the higher temperatures inside a case.
Power output is limited to the 3 and 5v rails, whereas modern components such as CPUs and graphics cards require power from the 12v rails.
The actual wattage may vary, leading to instability and troubles that are difficult to trace.
The cooling fan must spin faster to manage heat, resulting in increased noise.
A cheap PSU can turn into a costly investment.
Avoid purchasing one.
My top recommendation for selecting a reliable unit is to check the warranty—seven years ensures quality.
At least five years is ideal.
I usually wouldn’t waste money upgrading an FX system.
But a solid PSU can be easily swapped into future projects.
Also, remember that a 750w unit generally doesn’t cost significantly more than a 650w one. A PSU only uses the power it needs, no matter its maximum rating.
