I've been considering a new gaming laptop for some time. I'm not looking for anything extremely powerful—just something in the 3xxx or 4xxx range. However, I need a solid screen and good build quality, which excludes the more affordable options.

The HP Omen 16 came up in my thoughts. I believe it's from last year. When I checked reviews of this line, many mentioned they're reliable and well-made but expensive for the features. It looks like it might be priced competitively? Perhaps because it's an older model?

Would you consider it a good value, or would you have other recommendations?

If it's this, it indicates the item isn't available, and the price shouldn't be too high given the current mid-range pricing which is quite favorable and considering its age. I anticipate a reasonably good and new model in the range of £1300 to £1900 including VAT.

It's displaying £1,114 and available. If you think a new model could help you reach £1,300, what are your thoughts? I know the 3070Ti card in that laptop is similar to a 4060, though it depends on the power supply and other factors. I haven't found a good build quality machine with a 4060 for much less than £1,400, so this seemed like a solid offer.

The choice of options I presented stems from the fact that pricing and stock levels differ significantly compared to what you experience in the US. I considered Lenovo since a friend recently purchased one at a favorable price, though it appears to be priced much higher elsewhere. MSI, Asus, and Acer seem to offer better stock availability, but I’m not well-acquainted with the specific models I encountered. Most of the cheaper options tend to feature 1080p displays.

These are merely a few potential choices, none of which seem especially promising, but they give a general sense of the more affordable alternatives:

These represent some of the most affordable, reasonably assembled models currently available. I’ve noticed numerous reports that MSI’s entry-level screens often lack quality, so it would be wise to seek alternatives where performance isn’t compromised.

A step up from Asus’ budget gaming laptops

The Lenovo Legion Pro 5 Gen 8 is my preferred current laptop, yet it appears to be quite costly there (around $1400 USD for a model with RTX 4070, whereas the same specs elsewhere cost about £1800). There could be some discounts available, so it might be worth exploring further.

Thanks for the feedback on the research process. I understand how challenging it can be to compare prices and stock across international sites, especially for work-related needs.

Regarding the MSI model, it seems there might be concerns about its display quality. As for the other options, they offer a 4060 card with slightly better specs compared to the 3070 Ti and larger storage options.

The older 2023 model with a less powerful processor does raise some questions about its performance relative to other suggestions.

As long as it's new, there are no issues, though it wasn't available before. I wanted to share some updated options since the previous ones weren't showing up. It fits the same general category as the others I mentioned (except the Legion Pro, which is significantly different), making it a budget choice. It should heat up when under heavy use, which is normal for a GPU that uses a lot of power.
