Hello everyone,

I’m considering purchasing an upgrade kit consisting of a motherboard with a processor and memory. However, this is quite expensive, understandably. I was hoping to get your input and see if you have any alternative suggestions. Perhaps I should continue using my current system and build a completely new one over several years?

My hardware specifications are as follows:

CPU:
Intel Core i7 4790 @ 3.60GHz
Motherboard:
MSI Z97 PC Mate (MS-7850)
GPU:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti
RAM:
16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 799MHz

Allocate funds toward quicker performance or increased storage capacity, consider a bigger display with a higher refresh rate. More affordable enhancements can be implemented at a lower price point than replacing the entire CPU, RAM, and motherboard combination.

They suggest patience and observation, which could be the correct approach for you, but ultimately you’re the only one who understands your specific performance needs. If you're primarily gaming on a 1440p/1080p display (likely focused on improving your graphics card), then yes, upgrading storage or the GPU would be beneficial. However, if you prioritize the monitor, you’ll require a better graphics card. Storage is consistently necessary.

Thank you for the prompt response.

I recently purchased a 2TB hard drive last week alongside an MSI Optix MAG27C (1920x1080@144Hz) monitor... but it’s currently just setup. You all think it's sufficient? Is it not worth spending €700 on a new system and living on noodles for three months?

Solid-state drive. Eight processor cores plus sixteen gigabytes of memory require quicker storage compared to a traditional hard disk drive.
