I’m just starting out with the STEAM game launcher. I want to play many games without spending much money, so I rent a shared Steam account that costs $10 a month. It gives me access to hundreds of games and lets me play as much as I like, except for online mode. When I log in, I have to enter a security code he provided. On his account, I see remote desktop features, a lot of computer names, family view options, and prompts asking for a PIN to unlock certain features. I’m not sure how it all works, but I wonder if someone could gain access to my computer. Maybe I’m being too cautious.

I’d leave right away, that seems like a huge request.

This behavior violates the terms of service and could result in account suspension. You can connect to play Steam games remotely, functioning similarly to a remote desktop setup, meaning they might see and control your computer. The intention seems to be downloading games that work offline before accessing the account again, though this approach is comparable to piracy and is likely prohibited here.

I understand you're new here, but steam isn't meant for this purpose.

there are numerous free games available on steam, epic games, origins, uplay, and they frequently host regular giveaways. the most effective method to expand your library is by installing all launchers with your personal account and monitoring for free game promotions or significant discounts. i recommend avoiding questionable third-party subscription services you mentioned earlier.

Absolutely not, I wouldn't rely on that account. Steam is free! People shouldn't have to pay for someone else's library because they'll end up paying more than what they spent on the games, and then the developer will profit from it!

Steam works just fine, yet the method used isn't ideal.

Obtain a standard Steam account. There are many free-to-play games available, plus frequent promotions. You can purchase keys through various stores. Avoid buying strange apps from unknown sources.

Steam is generally secure, yet your action of using a shared account made it risky. It looks suspicious and untrustworthy, but a standard Steam account remains safe.
