Your setup offers solid performance for a mid-range gaming rig. The 280x resolution and 8GB RAM should handle most modern titles smoothly. At $45, the game is reasonably priced for its quality and features. For optimal results, stick to reasonable settings—avoid extreme resolutions or high frame rate demands unless you're targeting specific games.

Checking the details, if you're looking for an alpha version right now, I'd hold off around a month until the FPS becomes available.

In terms of optimization, elite leads significantly. SC remains in pre-alpha with a planned full launch in 2016. From a graphics and gameplay perspective, the scale matches their development investments—roughly $3 million for ED to $74 million plus for SC. Beyond the ongoing MMO setting and a wide variety of vessels from small fighters to massive carriers with hundreds of crew members, the upcoming release promises around fifty detailed star systems and numerous uncharted areas for exploration. It will feature a fully immersive first-person experience, including flying and crewing ships, landing on planets and asteroids, engaging in combat both in space and on ground, plus full motion capture character animations. The campaign will consist of about fifty missions, professionally written and directed for single-player or cooperative play.

It will debut across roughly 100 star systems, offering superior visuals compared to ED (CryEngine is praised for its graphics). Players can explore freely, navigate ships, and visit planets seamlessly. With an impressive campaign and dynamic FPS combat, it’s set to be the top space simulation ever.

I experienced issues with my modem recently and wasn’t able to stream SC. It felt a bit like Beavis and Butt-Head when their TV was taken away; they had to leave the house 😅 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=h54o02a8xjc
