Is QuestionWin 10 HDR broken, and does it have a green or purple tint?
To be honest, I seriously thought about putting a bounty on myself if I couldn't find a fix after over a year. So hopefully I can get lucky here. My computer has specs like this: GTX 1080 Ti with 11GB of VRAM, an Intel Core i7 at 4.2GHz, 32GB of RAM running Windows 10 Pro. This problem started more than a year ago and I still haven't been able to solve it. When this happened, I had just recently swapped out my motherboard because the old one died. Everything seemed fine until I tried playing a game (it was Resident Evil 2 Remake). To note, I am playing on a Samsung TV that is 4K with a screen size of 60 inches and model TU7000. As soon as I started up the game, it went straight to video settings. I turned on HDR through Windows Settings before starting the game and then tried setting it up inside the game. With HDR on, the game looks washed out and has terrible black levels-- every dark area has purple and green shadows and the tint is always off. I also understand that some games sometimes look washed out when they first came out, but this is different; I used to be able to play in HDR perfectly with this game before things started going wrong. I thought maybe it was just a bug with this specific game, but even God of War does the same thing.......it does the exact same thing with Days Gone and pretty much every other game that supports HDR. I've attached an example of the problem with a Days Gone screenshot. I have actually been playing games now for over a year with HDR turned off because I can't seem to fix this issue. I'm pretty sure there is a setting in Windows causing this or a problem with my GPU, because I use a PS5 on the same TV and the HDR works perfectly for that console-- so I've ruled out my TV being the cause?? Screenshot examples of Days Gone: 1 , 2 I really hope I can figure this out, because I'm pretty much at a loss here for over a year. Appreciate any help that could be the issue since I've tried everything else I could think of.
Do you have a power supply unit or a motherboard model? What BIOS version do you run on that board? Which OS version are you using? It looks like there is an upgrade file for your monitor. Maybe it's just a firmware update, I don't know, but I wanted to download it to check out what it does and then decided against it because the file is too big. Have you tried using DDU to remove your GPU drivers and then reinstalling them with the newest ones from Nvidia's website?
Yeah, I did all of this stuff already. My power supply (brand new, so I'm pretty certain it's not causing issues) is a Corsair RM850. I don't know which Windows version you have, but I'm sure it's the latest update. Pretty much my TV is also updated too. I actually mentioned in my post that my motherboard is an ASUS Maximus IX Hero with LGA1151 chipset.
