Minecraft is built using Java, but that language isn’t ideal for the game. A complete rewrite to C# would likely boost performance significantly. Also, keep in mind Minecraft struggles with newer hardware and Vsync settings. On my system—a GTX 970 with an I5-2400 and 8GB RAM—I’m only getting about 240 FPS in Minecraft. I’d expect much higher speeds with more powerful equipment. My friend using an I3 and GTX 660Ti achieves around 500 FPS.

Consoles are designed for 720 resolution, and an R7 270x would manage it well with a 720p display if you use a monitor of that size.

It seems your setup isn’t quite up to par, isn’t it? You might want to consider a upgrade. While buying a PC upfront can be more expensive, factoring in years of PSN subscriptions can actually make the console more affordable. Still, console games tend to cost more overall. A better PC would really help you enjoy them better.

It's disappointing with FF XIII. It still appears well at 720P, but we're discussing a platform that supports GTX Titans, GTX 980, and R9 290X as GPUs. I would have preferred to see a 1080/1440p option with a 60fps cap instead of 30.

I can skip the dev but I still want to enjoy Minecraft, Wolfenstein, GTA 4 and other games.

Minecraft heavily depends on the CPU for performance.

Seems like the game isn't running smoothly at all, especially when uncapped. I doubt it's actually playing around a medium frame rate on the PS4 unless someone says otherwise—it would be a big red flag from the developers.

It's accurate, though prior to the update it would drop to 30 fps temporarily and then stop without any explanation.

It might improve performance if you have a strong overclock, but it depends on your specific setup and the CPU's capabilities.

Yes, it's possible to play Crysis 3 at 8K with 60fps on a Radeon 7950. The experience feels nearly unaltered, with no anti-aliasing applied and medium settings used. Previously, the game ran poorly, dropping frames intermittently.
