Is partial freezing happening?
Here is a fresh try on Windows 10 but with no errors. It also has a new SSD and I have changed my motherboard, CPU, power supply, RAM, cooling fans, and GPU all at once. Since then, the PC freezes up randomly. It won't turn on when you click on YouTube or open Task Manager. The menu is very transparent. Sometimes I get blue screens of death but sometimes it just stops responding completely. There are no errors in Event Viewer for me, and other people with this exact problem say that too. It happens at random times like once a day, twice a day, or every few days. It never happened when I was gaming but only during the night when the PC is idle or while watching YouTube. Things I tried: doing a fresh install of Windows 10 on a formatted SSD. Actually, I have two different SSDs. Updating the BIOS. Testing the RAM sticks, testing the GPU and CPU even though I don't really know how to do this properly but used Unigine for the GPU and CPU-Z. I searched everywhere online but couldn't find any answers but I saw some people having this problem. I am very frustrated and angry and I'm scared I'll end up just smashing the whole PC. Some say it's the motherboard. Some say it's the CPU. Some of this....some that... I was suspecting Armoury Crate. So I stopped using it and the problem went away for a couple of weeks then it came back again without AC. My parts: Windows 10 OS, Asus X570-Plus with the latest BIOS, Ryzen 5700G, Dell RTX 3060 ti (new). 32 GB RAM (3200 Mhz/4X8, two sticks are RGB, the other two are regular). Any thoughts or suggestions? Thank you.
Welcome guys! Here are my computer parts: I use Win 10 OS on an Asus X570-Plus motherboard with the newest BIOS installed. The CPU is a Ryzen 5700G, and the GPU is a Dell RTX 3060 Ti (new). I have 32 GB of RAM running at 3200 MHz in 4 sticks total. Two of those RAM sticks are RGB colored while the other two are normal colors. When asking for help about fixing something, it's good to tell everyone all your parts like this: CPU: Cooler: Motherboard: RAM: Hard Drive or SSD: Graphics Card: Power Supply Unit: Case: Operating System: Monitor: Also please tell how old your power supply is besides the make and model number. BIOS version on your motherboard right now plus I upgraded my PC a couple of months ago so I changed the motherboard, CPU, power supply, RAM, cooling fans, and the graphics card. If you did an upgrade, it helps to know what was before and after. So two ram kits? If they are corsair maybe we should get their PCB revision numbers back for you. To stay on topic please include the BIOS version instead of just saying "latest". You can create a fresh install of Win 10 OS by formatting your SSD and creating a bootable USB installer, then installing the system offline while running as an administrator right-clicking the installer to run it. I moved this thread from Windows 10 section to Systems section.
I discovered that using Ram kits that match exactly with your PC is really good. This lets me overclock everything so my gaming works better. I started by using default settings on my system, then slowly pushed the limits of my motherboard, RAM, GPU, and CPU as long as it stayed stable. I just need enough cooling for all parts and a good power supply unit (PSU) with extra room to add more stuff later. I've used 1000-watt PSUs and never had any power problems! Mixing different types of Ram can cause issues because the whole group will run slowest when you mix them. Good luck building your new setup!
Thanks for getting back to me! I don't think it's the mixed RAM. That's why I say that because all four sticks are Corsair and they all run at the same speed. What makes me even more sure is this: I tried each pair of sticks by themselves, like two pairs together without the other two, but the problem happened again. So I guess I can rule out the RAM for now?
Mouse problem? battery low on wireless mouse? wireless mouse signal interference? mouse button worn out? Try a different wired mouse. Show a screenshot. (upload to imgur.com and post link) Show a screenshot. There's important info in BSOD screen. Did you install all the necessary drivers from motherboard manufacturer support site? Check for unknown devices in Device Manager (yellow exclamation marks). That's a whole different problem. Either talk to a psychotherapist. Or go ahead and smash your pc. All your pc problems will be gone. 😉 Ram could be a suspect. Run memtest86. Try operating your pc with a single ram module. GPU could be a suspect. Remove discrete gpu and try with integrated gpu instead.
Thanks for getting back to me, but one more time, I have only tested two exact copies of the same kit together before. Even when testing just those pairs individually, I had the same issue. This means the problem isn't with the RAM sticks themselves.
I really appreciate you taking your time to reply. I don't use a wireless mouse; I have two wired mice connected. Yes, the drives are actually updated from the Asus site (specifically for my motherboard). Again, I do not think the RAM is the issue because I tried each identical stick at once (first one pair alone, then took them out and tried the other pair from the kit), and it was the same problem. Could there be a bad stick in each pair? Maybe, but how likely is that? I will try running just one stick at a time later to check. I already ran a memory test, though I think I installed all 4 sticks at once. I'll run just one at a time next. The GPU was new when I put it in there, even if parts can be defective and I hope it's not the problem. I've done some testing (benchmarking) with Unigine and everything seemed to work fine. If that fails, what else are we looking at? I'm not going to let this annoyance ruin my day every single day.
