Hey! You're considering a purchase, but your budget is tight—just $60. Since you're a student working part-time (commission-based), it's smart to be cautious. I'm curious if you'd like the game? You're comfortable with COD4, MW2, BC2, BF3, and BF4, especially COD4 and BC2. You've played Source, CS:GO, and TF2, though you find TF2 challenging due to its complexity and player count. If you're into COD or BF titles and enjoy Overwatch, I'd love to hear your thoughts! P.S., COD4 really stands out among those games.

It's not a first-person shooter, but more like a first-person MOBA. It definitely feels more FPSsy than SMITE. Because it's going to be free, I suggest giving it a try and see what you think. Guessing about free-to-play games isn't really useful.

Overwatch shares similarities with TF2's gameplay. If you didn't like TF2, you might find Overwatch less appealing too.

Steam indicates Smite isn't accessible in my region. However, I might explore purchasing Overwatch instead and request a refund if it doesn’t suit me.

Last week they mentioned the game would be free, but their site says otherwise. It comes from Blizzard with its own client (battlenet), so it probably isn't on Steam. I don’t know their refund policy. If I buy it, I’d go to G2A or Kinguin based on which is cheaper. I’d only pay if a game costs more than £30, otherwise I won’t buy it. The exception would be high-budget titles like GTA V.

Overwatch remains paid, though I believe an open beta will launch in May. It’s enjoyable, but a bit rushed for someone who doesn’t compete much in FPS games. Still, I appreciate the title.

The game is a first-person shooter with no PvE features, focusing on direct combat between players. The design emphasizes teamwork against each other, which can feel similar to MOBA mechanics, though it's a simpler approach.

You possess lanes, a goal, and powers you discover across every MOBA—think assassins, support players, or shields. The foundation comes from classic MOBA roles like tanks, healers, and damage dealers.

Open beta kicks off on May 5th—experience it yourself. Closed beta will roll out invites on the 15th at 9AM and run for 36 hours. I don’t see much overlap. When looking at the TF2 6v6 competitive scene, there’s a small observation, but overall it’s quite different. The hero count is much higher, the meta feels less fresh, and mobility plus strategy around tanks and anti-tank heroes are vastly distinct from what we’re used to in TF2. Being a multi-class first-person shooter doesn’t make it equivalent to TF2.

.....that's exactly like TF2. It's a shooter 1st and foremost. TF2 characters technically have abilities too, but most of them are tied to their weapons. Overwatch doesn't have lanes and their objectives are basically the same ones found in TF2. Overwatch = TF3. You're thinking of Battleborn. @Raccatography there is something in Overwatch for EVERYONE. Based on the games you play, I'm pretty sure you'll like Soldier 76 and maybe Widowmaker. Also, Overwatch is $40 for the regular version on PC.
