Is overclocking AMD Ryzen 5 1600 beneficial for gaming?
I have another perspective on this.
To confirm, I’ll check my specs at the bottom. With a 3.9Ghz OC versus Stock+XFR, I haven’t noticed more than a 2 fps improvement in Far Cry Primal, Andromeda, AC Origin so far. Now I sometimes disable my overclock and run it in stock. I’m unsure how reviewers are reporting these gains, but as long as you’re set to high quality, the CPU OC benefit will be minimal.
There’s no advantage in games with 2400 versus 3200 memory speed (max 2 fps, but I haven’t seen it). As long as your GPU is strong, just get 2400Mhz RAM and you’ll be fine. Don’t waste money on 3200 unless you really need the extra performance. Use it to upgrade CPU or GPU instead.
