Is my HDD bad?
You have an older HDD that Windows recognizes, used mainly for installing games. It works fine during installation but crashes when you try to play the games afterward. The issue seems specific to this drive, not the entire system. CrystalDiskInfo confirms it’s still in good shape. You’re considering swapping it with a SATA SSD, but there are concerns about using it in an external enclosure for media and ROMs. It might be safe if kept in a protected case, but long-term reliability isn’t guaranteed.
Join the discussions! What opinions does CrystalDiskMark share about it? It might show slow read speeds, but if you're okay with some data loss, it should work well in an external case.
The findings from CrystalDiskInfo and HD Sentinel appear satisfactory. However, all games I attempted to run on it ended in crashes. The titles I've tested include COD Cold War, COD Warzone, and Dead Island Definitive Edition.
