My computer has become very sluggish and takes much longer to boot now compared to before. I attempted to fix it by rolling back a recent update, but that didn’t resolve the issue. A fresh installation is being done, yet it’s still taking a long time. It seems like something might be wrong with the hardware, especially since it’s not running smoothly even without Windows installed.

It might be the operating system drive, but we don’t have enough details about your PC to confirm.

Sure, having a complete list of all components could be useful.

I7 6700k
Gtx 1080
2 hd drives
1 SSD (for the operating system)
PSU (corshair – I don’t remember the exact wattage, probably 500 or 600?)
All components are around 5 or 6 years old

Need MUCH more specific info.
What OS?
The exact make/model of the PSU
etc, etc.
What was the last thing you did before it started doing this?

Windows 10, I applied an update which triggered the issue. The system became unresponsive and required an hour to shut down after I clicked update and then shutdown. This began immediately afterward.
