They share a similar vibe thanks to their open-world design. Try Morrowind, then Oblivion. Once you’ve played them, give Skyrim another go and you’ll recall everything you’ve experienced. It’s an incredible sensation.

Morrowind stands out with deeper layers and far less reliance on hand-holding. The map no longer forces you to guess where elusive creatures hide—compass and quests are finally trustworthy. A fresh overhaul would truly enhance the experience.

Skyrim looks nice and the combat feels solid, but Oblivion kept me going for around 400 hours in Morrowind and over 500 in Oblivion. I finished a lot of stuff—like 500 or more—and tackled quests such as collecting wine and relics, which took about 368 hours in Skyrim. I didn’t focus on the main story and just went through those side tasks.
