Checking Witcher 3 mods, NexusMods is a common source, but be cautious. Ensure downloads come from trusted sites and verify compatibility before installing. Watch out for scams or poorly written mods that could harm your game.

Nexus Mods is likely the largest platform for game modifications, making it clearly trustworthy.

Review the community for both the game and NexusMods to find any conflicts with Witcher 3 patches. Some mods won’t be undoable even after resetting to an earlier save, and you might need to reinstall the game from your backup. This reminds me of backing up your game before adding any mods, so you avoid buying it again (in case). Fallout also has its own community handling bugs, which may be compatible with certain mods. You might want to search for a Witcher 3 community that offers similar backup options. Hope this helps, Cheers Steve!

Both Steam and GoG let you reinstall if you remove it for any reason, and GoG even offers an offline installer. I’d be cautious about services that ask for a new purchase. Probably a physical copy handles this better? The rest is fascinating and worth paying attention to. It’s completely reasonable. They even have a side-loader app/launcher now (Vortex) that lets you control mod priority and order (a big plus for some users). The premium version is appealing because it lifts the 1MB download cap and removes the need to install one mod at a time. If you’re planning to add many mods, it could be worth the monthly fee. I’ve downloaded several Witcher 3 mods from NexusMods and always check how many downloads they have and how long ago they were uploaded. This usually indicates the mod is solid and safe, not a risk of damaging your PC or spreading malware. Just follow standard safety tips when downloading anything.

Vortex offers a useful option to duplicate your current save and try mods. This feature safeguards you from obvious changes but I’ve discovered it’s extremely helpful before applying mods to my main saves. It also lets me experiment with different builds across various games that have mods, so I don’t have to load all mods into every save. If a mod applies only to one game, it installs just that one! I use several mod platforms like SourceForge, NM, and a few more. It’s completely secure and trusted by millions daily.
