Is Mafia 3 focused on storytelling rather than gameplay mechanics?
Hey guys.
There are some kind of games called "Story-based games" which focusing at the story (including cinematics and cutscenes) more than the gameplay itself, so the actual gameplay is by someway little, meaning that the game itself looks like a movie.
I didn't try Mafia series till this moment, i just heard recently that Mafia 1,2 are story-based games, but i heard that Mafia 3 is different, while i'm not sure from that, so i'm asking that here, does Mafia 3 the same?? or i can find big amount of gameplay to have fun with?? i just don't like much cinematics and cutscenes in games, i like long hours of gameplay.
You should also know that Mafia 3 becomes very repetitive in a short time, and the main reason to play it is just for the story. You're mainly completing missions to progress the plot. It offers an open world with many activities, but none of them provide enjoyable gameplay; you'll likely find...
Mafia 1,2,3 are open city titles akin to GTA but with a stronger focus on narrative storytelling. I'm not entirely clear on what you mean by a 'Story Based Game'. In short, they are third-person shooter or driving games.
Some games are now more like movies than games to play.
Story-driven games focus on creating a narrative experience, often resembling films rather than interactive play. They may have long scenes, cutscenes, and less actual gameplay time.
I prefer spending more time playing than watching those scenes, so I wanted to ask about Mafia 3 in that context.
I hope this makes sense.
There is a narrative that you need to navigate, it is non-linear and expands as you go along, especially with the DLC. It's quite convenient to bypass the cutscenes if you prefer, as they don't interfere much and actually enhance the gameplay. It's really fun, especially considering the price you pay.

You're mainly completing missions to progress, and it's an open world with many activities, though none of them are particularly enjoyable. You'll likely have more fun just driving around and causing trouble, since the wanted/cop system is more lenient and you can easily evade the police.
