No one said you had to upgrade everything all at once. You could upgrade your GPU first (you will be losing out on a lot of it's extra performance until you upgrade your platform), and then upgrade the rest in 6 months to a year. Or upgrade the platform first, and reuse your old GPU for the same amount of time. Or you could start with a new case and power supply and go from there. LGA 1150 is definitely end of life with no path going forward, but you don't have to run away from your current computer in one big move.

I want to try your idea too since I'm concerned about my 9700k system overheating after overclocking; I'm keeping this old machine around mainly because of Zen 6.

For desktop PCs, opting for a partial upgrade is a smart decision because it won't strain your budget as much as replacing everything at once.
