Hello everyone! I'm checking if I can boost performance from my old desktop PC's CPU. It's been in my hands since 2008, with several upgrades over the years. Mostly I run photo editing software like Photoshop and Lightroom, and occasionally play games. The hardware is mostly second-hand—GPU, CPU, RAM all swapped out. It feels like a mixed assembly. I've updated the BIOS for my motherboard. Here are the details:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 @ 2.66GHz
Motherboard: ASUS P5B SE
RAM: 6GB DDR2 (slots AENEON, Patriot, Nanya, Samsung)
Storage: Seagate ST1000DM003 1TB
Power Supply: 500W THERMAL MASTER
Cooling: Case fan, DIY fan from a broken laptop, and a deep CPU cooler from a fan repair.
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro (64-bit)

This motherboard isn't very reliable for power delivery since it's been around a while. It might fail under stress, so consider upgrading to an SSD with SATA 2 support.

It's quite outdated, but it still works well most of the time, which is why I keep using it.
