It's worth considering, though opinions vary. Many say Win 10 offers improvements over older versions, especially for newer games and performance in recent titles. RX480 users often report smoother gameplay in updated versions like 8.1 or 10 compared to earlier releases.

Using Classic Shell for the old start menu, restoring Windows Photo Viewer, adding a good media player such as MPC-HC, removing groove music and photo previews, turning off apps, disabling notifications, shutting down Xbox DVR, cutting Cortana, stopping telemetry, and blocking automatic updates should give you a much improved experience compared to Windows 7.

To fully explore Windows 10, consider backing up your current system before upgrading. If you're unsure, reverting to Windows 7 using DX12 works well, though stability of drivers might differ compared to older versions.

There are plenty of fans still using Windows 7, but I favor Windows 10 for its smoother performance and better productivity features. The data mining concerns don’t really affect me much. For older hardware like the HD4870, I removed it from my backup setup because it kept crashing on Windows 10. A RX480 should work fine without any problems.

If that's the situation then definitely go ahead, but keep a full copy of your current system ready just in case. I personally prefer both Windows 7 and 10, though I use Windows 10 on my main machine for convenience.

I don’t find it appealing, but others can still try it. My main complaints are: I’m frustrated by MS’s aggressive methods. They often install UWP apps without permission, display ads, and alter default settings. Yes, you can switch your default browser to Chrome, Firefox, or Opera. But lately they’ve started insisting on a pop-up asking if you prefer Edge over Chrome. You should be able to disable these alerts, but MS usually cancels them after big updates. A tool named Shutup10 might help, though it needs re-running after each Windows build update. I appreciate the speed of a fresh install—download the latest from MS’s site and install. It comes with prior updates. Usually I only need two rounds of Windows Updates to stay current. This has been really useful at work. It’s good they still let you upgrade for free, even though they don’t always mention it. About a dozen clients chose to upgrade after July 29th, and all activated without problems.

Beyond mandatory updates and basic configuration, I genuinely enjoy Windows 10.
