Hello, I aim for an objective response. You prefer x86 because it suits your experience and the age of your PC, though Fl 10 is 32-bit and works well. You mention PAE is 36-bit while the system is 32-bit, which could cause issues. It seems mismatches might affect hardware like the PSU, CPU, or RAM. Are these problems likely to damage any components? If they do, it would be on the software side only, not the hardware. What’s the worst possible outcome, and is it permanent? Please help me understand better. Thank you!

Allowing PAE expands the memory Windows can use, but it doesn't enable running 64-bit applications. It also doesn't mean you can force everyone to behave a certain way.

I understand, but for FL 9 or 10 models, 4 GB is fine; plug-ins and other software are okay. Having 16 GB will definitely help reduce stress and improve performance. To me, it makes sense.

Regarding security, I’m curious—will everything be safe on the physical side (hardware) like a PSU, CPU, memory, etc., or could a problem still affect the digital domain? My concern is about how secure it really is. What’s the worst case scenario? And can it be fixed by formatting?

Thanks!
PS: Sorry for the earlier comment, I was asking about my previous setup and some people suggested upgrading. Just needed some guidance.

PAE will not affect the system adversely, although a few (uncommon) systems have been reported as disliking it for specific reasons. You should only test it on your own setup to determine its impact. Always create a verified backup of the entire system before proceeding.

Not concerned about damaging hardware or system instability? Thanks for the clarification. Do you find Windows 2008 appealing compared to 7/8/10? It offers a better workflow and security. I noticed PAE is typically enabled automatically on 32-bit systems, which should be cost-effective now.

Windows 2008 serves as a server operating system and isn't intended for everyday personal use or gaming. Furthermore, we have surpassed the point in time when support for this OS ended.

I understand, but I prefer to study and will be working online with audio, professional music/audio projects. More performance, better security, well... I aim to use the best while keeping it affordable and secure...

Given that this specific Windows edition is far from receiving support, we have concluded our involvement. We do not provide assistance for software piracy in any manner.
