Not an ideal choice.
It might not function effectively at all.
The RAM is sold in kits for a reason.
A motherboard needs to handle all the RAM according to the same voltage, case, and speed specifications.
The internal design is tailored for the capacity of the kit.
RAM from the same manufacturer and part number can vary in manufacturing over time.
Some motherboards are particularly sensitive to these changes.
It becomes more challenging when multiple modules are used.
The RAM must be compatible for optimal performance.
Sometimes you can adjust for issues by raising the RAM voltage in the motherboard BIOS, provided your board supports such adjustments.
What would your backup plan be if this fails?
Conduct some tests to verify whether your approach is viable and necessary.
On RAM, execute demanding tasks and observe activity via Task Manager.
Choose the memory section.
Check the hard fault/second column.
If you notice consistently high numbers, more RAM is required.
A hard fault halts your application until the issue is fixed.
This requires accessing the page file, which can be frustrating on a hard drive.
2 x 8gb would cost around $50 new, or about half that price on eBay.
For graphics, try this straightforward test:
Run your games, but reduce resolution and visual complexity.
This helps the graphics card perform slightly better.
An increase in FPS suggests your CPU can handle a higher graphics setting.
If your FPS remains unchanged, you’re likely CPU-limited.
