I own a mid-range gaming laptop roughly three years old. It features a Core i5 4200 U (dual core), an AMD Radeon HD 8670M with 2GB of dedicated memory. Previously, I struggled to run Far Cry 4 because it required four cores, but with extreme optimization, I managed around 25-30 FPS at medium settings. Can I still play GTA V on this machine using similar techniques?

Through some effort, anything can be made to function, yet a truly distinct concept remains challenging.

You can try it gently instead of rushing.

This might require employing certain terms later on, right?

You have the option, though you shouldn't anticipate high-quality visuals. It's likely you'll need to run it at a lower setting and possibly with a smaller resolution.

You're probably streaming at a lower resolution than optimal.
