I previously used an HDMI cable but it stopped working, so I switched to different cables after it stopped functioning. Now my computer only supports 100 Hz. I tried increasing the speed but the label saying "This will not show hz that the monitor can't display" is still there. The 144 Hz option is missing. I'm wondering if it's safe to try overclocking it to 144 Hz.

Key aspects affecting your query are important. Outputs and inputs have bandwidth constraints. It might surprise you that an HDMI connection wouldn't lack a matching DP option. Yes, it's possible to overclock monitors using tools like Custom Resolution Utility. However, in this scenario, the issue could stem from something else rather than a low-end cable.
