I have an ASUS ROG laptop and observed that at idle with power connected, the CPU clock runs high and the fan increases accordingly. Adjusting the basic power plan didn’t help, but I noticed a processor speed setting with a default minimum of 80% when plugged in versus 5% on battery. Is this the recommended minimum or acceptable to lower to 5%?

Welcome to the forums, new member! Could you share the model and SKU with your ROG Laptop? It would be okay to reduce the minimum processor speed, as mine is currently at 0%. The thread has been moved from the Systems section to the CPUs section.

Feel free to adjust it whenever you like. On this computer, my optimal performance/CPU temperature is around 70%.

Everyone, reduced the volume and the CPU speed has dropped now, though temperatures remain elevated during certain moments—this is typical for gaming laptops.
