Is it normal for every game to freeze and crash on a powerful gaming PC?
I experience minor frame rate reductions ranging from 1 to 2 fps, followed by complete game freezes. For instance, while maintaining a steady 60 fps in every game, I notice a drop of 2 to 3 fps every 2 to 3 minutes, causing the game to freeze briefly. This issue has occurred in games such as God Of War 2018, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, and Assassins Creed Origins.
My system specifications are:
- MSI B450M-A PRO MAX II
- Sapphire Pulse Rx 7600
- Ryzen 5 5600X
- 16 GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM (single channel, XMP Profile 1 enabled)
- Kingston NV2 1TB M.2 2280 NVMe Internal SSD
- Chieftec EON 600W PSU
I have updated my BIOS, reinstalled clean drivers on all components, and enabled XMP profile 1 in the BIOS.
What might be causing this problem, and are there any solutions?

I haven't tried the EON series personally, but it seems to have low ratings.

Hi, I ran MSI Afterburner and Riva Tuner Statistics while gaming. My system isn’t overheating at all, so that’s unlikely. After reinstalling the GPU drivers via DDU, I noticed my PC runs games smoothly but experiences sudden FPS drops and freezes. Regarding the PSU, is there any way to test its performance or check if it’s limiting other components? Thanks for your response.
How much SSD space do you have available?
16 Gb DDR4 3200mhz RAM – is this the total amount of RAM?

my ssd has a total of 930 gb with 733 free space. I also have only one stick of ram and am using Windows 11.
I have a quick question if you wouldn't mind.
Could a bad HDMI cable be the cause of these issues? My HDMI cable is really old and might not be transferring data quickly enough to the monitor, right?
Doesn't sound like a faulty HDMI cable to me (but they're very cheap to buy new if you have doubts; Edit: many years ago I had stuttering type issues caused by a very long HDMI cable).
Single stick of ram is going to be contributing to your problems, maybe not all of them.
Consider the workaround for the December Windows 11 update.
