Is it normal for CPU cores to reach maximum capacity when the system is idle?
Started approximately a week ago without clear cause, experiencing full load on half or all 12 cores. Task manager opened to check but stopped afterward, consistently each time I launch it. No new hardware or software installed, no OS update at the time of onset. Left picture shows state before, right after opening task manager. Assistance appreciated. Thanks.

When sharing a troubleshooting thread, it's standard to provide your complete system details. Please format the specifications as follows:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
Include the age of the PSU along with its make and model. Also, note the BIOS version for your motherboard at this time.
I checked the Task Manager to check for issues, but it stopped working consistently whenever I open it. It seems to occur daily now.
Has this started after an OS update? Have you tried reviewing the startup items and disabling any background processes? Speaking of backgrounds, it would help if you could share a screenshot of your startup list.
No changes were made to my system, no new hardware or software was added, and there were no OS updates. The issue only occurs when the task manager is active. My BIOS was 3601 initially, remained that version last year, had no problems before, and I installed the latest 3801 before posting, but it didn’t resolve the problem.
MEGUI is a popular video conversion tool. Make sure to verify its presence in your installed applications; remove it if found. Deleting files this way might lead to issues, especially if they belong to an installed app. If you didn’t install it and never used it, it’s possible you were affected by malware. Also, don’t mention the anti-malware software you used for your "basic test"—consider running a scan with Malwarebytes if needed.
I performed a malware test as mentioned in my post and didn't detect anything. This aligns with what I saw online about megui, the video app. However, since I haven't edited any videos or installed anything, I'm not too concerned about potential issues. Clearing that folder resolved the problem, possibly because it was a virus with a similar name.
might have attempted a scan on the file

but it's nice to have your system running again
I dont have the file anymore to upload but it was definitely the cause. Another weird thing, the folder date said it was created in 2022 but I did a clean install of w10 in january so it is impossible.
