It’s a positive development. Lately, I've discovered that if your graphics card ages or drivers fail to address problems, the manufacturer might release a revised firmware update (vBIOS). However, accessing this requires visiting their online community and providing your device’s serial number.

I experienced a situation where my GTX 970 was consistently reducing its performance without any driver fixes, but after consulting MSI’s forum, I found a vBIOS update that resolved the problem.

Avoid utilizing websites offering a collection of BIOS files for graphics cards, as your card’s firmware is highly tailored. Using an incorrect file could lead to diminished performance or even render your card unusable. Considering you have a 580, it’s unlikely that any newer...

If your graphics card is a recent one,
However, if you're receiving last year’s top technology, I wouldn’t suggest updating video card drivers routinely, but rather when you experience performance problems or other indicators. Based on my experience with AMD, even if you don’t possess the most current model, their drivers often produce problems immediately after release. This is somewhat unusual considering that NVIDIA releases drivers with greater regularity.

Because of this, I typically update my video graphics card drivers only a couple of times annually.

However, “fairly regular basis” might encompass daily, weekly, monthly, or annual occurrences—depending on an individual’s perspective.

It’s a positive development. I recently learned that if your graphics card ages or drivers fail to resolve problems, the manufacturer might release a revised BIOS version. However, accessing these updates requires going to their online forums and providing your card’s serial number.

I experienced a problem where my GTX 970 was consistently lowering its clock speed without any drivers fixing it. After consulting MSI’s forums, I discovered a BIOS upgrade that resolved the issue entirely.

Avoid using websites offering generic BIOS databases for graphics cards; your card’s BIOS is unique, and utilizing an incompatible version could result in decreased performance or even render your card unusable. Considering you have a 580, it's unlikely there are any new BIOS updates available for your model, but it’s worth keeping in mind for the future.
