I usually put it on a flat surface, like a cardboard box if I'm sitting on my lap. But oh well, you told me what to do, so I took your advice and removed the fans. Ouch, I can't just take them apart easily, so I'll need some alcohol between each blade. I was really hoping I could just take one blade off and dip it in running water while I run it under a tap. Oh well. Thanks everyone for helping!
